Postponement of Admissions at Deanship of Higher Studies<div class="ExternalClassBD129C2FB71141F6AEB0F95B986C8841"><div style="text-align:justify;"> Meaning of Postponing Admissions</div><div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>If a decision of admission for a student at Master or PhD stage has issued, he/she must initiate the study as soon as possible, but if there’s an obstacle that prevent him/her from continuing the study plan, then it’s permissible to request a postponement of admissions for one or two semesters. If the postponing period ending, he/she must return back to the first position and began the study plan. Request of Postponing Admission for All  Request of postponing the admission is permissible for freshmen postgraduate students only and students whom have completed one academic semester at least are not capable for postponing admissions. Request of Postponing Admission for Afternoon Time Request of postponing the admission is not permissible for postgraduate students – afternoon time only after satisfying Deanship of Higher Studies excuses. Number of Postponing of Admission Requests It is available for a once to all postgraduate students while joining the program admitted to for one or two academic semesters.  Student’s Situation if He/She Requests Postponing of Admissions If student-postponing admission at the first academic semester and at the second semester the concerned department starts teaching a new batch of students, the postponed student must join them immediately. If there are no students teaching the courses of the first semester, he/she must join the second semester and at earliest opportunity studying the courses of the first semester, providing that, he/she is not permissible to study courses of the second semester if there are requirements of the first semester. At that time, student should has to wait for the third semester and if the concerned department starts the program, he/she must join it immediately and if the department does not start the program he/she should has to wait for fourth semester. At the fourth semester, if the concerned department starts the program, he/she must join it immediately and if the department does not start, the program he/she should has to wait for fifth semester. At the fifth semester, if the concerned department starts the program, he/she must join it immediately and if the department does not start, then the student’s admission should be consider as cancelled and he/she must apply once again for the program. Postponing of Admission Period & Master and PhD Stages If student postponement his/her admissions, then this period do not count at the official period prescribed to obtain the academic degree.  Requesting Date of Postponing of Admission Student can apply for postponing his/her admission in no later than the second week of the academic semester.  Form of Postponing of Admission  Student must fill-in the prescribed form for postponing his/her admission and then passing them to the head of the department.  Approval Procedures of Postponing of Admission  Request of postponing admission must firstly direct to the council of the concerned department and then to the Dean of the college and lastly to the dean of Higher Studies for final approval.  Postponing of Admission Request to Head of Department Student should not consider having postponement of admission by directing his/her request of postponing of admission to the head of the concerned department, but he/she must not stop from attending lectures and perform all academical duties until officially receiving the approval of the Dean of the Higher Studies.  Applying for Postponement of Admission and Retreating If the final approval of the Dean of the Higher Studies has issued, then it is forcibly for student to not retreating from the request, but if the request of postponing of admission is at the head of the concerned department student can freely to retreating from the request. </div>

Cancel of Admissions & Re-Enrollment<div class="ExternalClass840ECBE61D8F4963895C986208A9D5FB">Student registration would be cancelling in the following cases: <div class="ExternalClassBCCBFAAFBA03403F9C6799F8CF36678A" style="text-align:justify;"><ol><li>If admitted as postgraduate student and does not complete his/her registration on time.</li><li>If not passing the supplementary courses referred-to in Article "18" of the regulation.</li><li>If withdrawn or suspend his/her study for a semester without unacceptable excuse.</li><li>If he/she does not seriously considers the study situation, or breach the study obligations as per Article "52" stated.</li><li>If his/her GPA decreasing from "Very Good" at two consecutively academic semesters.</li><li>If he/she violates the academic fidelity weather at studying courses or clinching the dissertation, or at least breaches the university's regulations and rules.</li><li>If he/she does not passes successfully the comprehensive exam, if any, after repeating it by permission.</li><li>If the referring panel of dissertation decides not to approve its validity and terms.</li><li>If he/she does not acquires the academic degree during the stipulating period as per Article "36" of the Regulation.</li></ol></div> Responsible Entity of Admission Cancelling: Council of Deanship of Higher Studies is the responsible entity of taking decision of cancelling the admission of female and male postgraduate students, based on the recommendation of the department and college councils. Additional Opportunity:  <ul><li>If student deserves to cancel his/her admission, because of GPA decreasing from "Very Good" at two consecutive semesters, then it is permissible to give him/her an extra opportunity for one or two academic semester according to the recommendation of council's department and college. </li><li>If student deserves to cancel his/her admission, because of not obtaining of the academic degree during the prescribed period, then it is permissible to give him/her an extra opportunity not more than two academic semesters according to the recommendation of council's department and college. </li></ul>  Re- enrollment during Postgraduate Studies: It is permissible in cases of extreme necessity to re-enroll a student, whose registration has cancelled for unexpected barriers to continue his studies. His/her re-enrollment will be approve on the recommendation of the Council of Higher Studies and the decision of the University Council. If student have re-enrolling at the postgraduate studies, he/she will be treating as follows: If student's registration was cancel for more than six semesters, his/her treats as a new student, regardless of previous academic record.If student's registration was cancel for less than six semesters, he/she will re-examine some of the courses deciding by the councils' department and college and approving by the Higher Studies Council. In such a case, student's academic courses will be count within GPA after his/her rejoining back to study.  </div>

Rules of Postponement and Deletion<div class="ExternalClass8465683DC9274408AFBBB3AEBC6152AA">First: Postponement Admissions: Student, who could not be able to join the academic semester, shall have the right to postpone the study according to the followings: <div class="ExternalClassD98DCD18938D49A48A7418469513BB25" style="text-align:justify;"><ol><li>He/she must request postponement from the head of the related department, no later than the end of the 2nd week from starting the study.</li><li>Council of the Department must approve the postponement request, as well as Dean of the college or the institute or Higher Studies.</li><li>An opportunity for postponement is once during the academic year.</li><li>It is permissible to postponing study for one academic semester or two semesters, and if the program does not be open for the next term, period would be extending but not exceeding four semesters. At the fifth semester, if the program does not open, joining terms would be applicable at registration time.</li><li>If the student postponed study for one semester, his/her may join the second semester, if there are no requirements of the first semester, and his/her must study the first semester as soon as it should be.</li><li>Postponement period must not exceed two semesters.</li><li>Postponement period does not counted within the maximum period of obtaining the degree.</li></ol></div>  Second: Deletion of Courses:  If the student commenced the study and for unexpected conditions, he/she could not be able to continue, he/she may delete courses according to the following regulations: <div class="ExternalClassA645F565DCBA401A821CA40F5D256035"><ol><li>He/she must request courses' deletion from the head of the related department, no later than three weeks from the exam process starting.</li><li>Council of the Department must approve the deletion request, as well as Dean of the college or the institute or Higher Studies.</li><li>Deletion must be for all courses of the semester.</li><li>If student delete courses of one semester and cannot be able to continue at the second semester, only one semester counting for him/her.</li><li>If student delete one academic semester, he/she may be able to join the next semester, if the courses of the deleted semester will not be available and if there are no requirements for the second semester.</li><li>Deleted academic course should not be within the extra opportunity provided.</li><li>Such academic semester must be count within the postponement period referred to earlier.</li><li>Deleted semesters do not be counting within the maximum period for obtaining the degree and as well within the prescribed period of obtaining the honor degree. </li></ol></div>  Third: Postponement Study:  If a student has passed an academic semester or more, or exert an appropriate effort of the dissertation, and wanted to postpone the study, he/she may do so, according to the following rules: <ol><li>He/she must request postponement from the head of the related department, before the beginning of the semester to be postponing at least two weeks. </li><li>Council of the Department must approve the deletion request, as well as Dean of the college or the institute or Higher Studies. </li><li>If the postponement request applied during the semester, it would be permissible if student passed at least one semester or more. </li><li>If the postponement request applied after registering the dissertation, it would be permissible if student exerted an appropriate effort on it. </li><li>Postponement period of the semester that the department could not be able to teaching it will not be counting, provided that it must not exceeding two semesters. </li><li>If student granted one more opportunity, and not exhausting the entire postponement period, he/she may be able to postpone the extra opportunity or part of them. </li><li>Academic councils must consider the progress of the dissertation completion before approve the postponement period. Approval of the dissertation will be consider as cut of the postponement period automatically. </li><li>Academic supervision does continue during the postponement period unless shares of faculty staff have finished, then the related department may propose an alternative academic supervision. </li><li>Student may request postponement semesters in total or in separate, providing that he/she must not combine more than two semesters at a time. </li><li>If student wants to cut the postponement period, he/she must apply to the head of the related department. </li><li>Decision of the related academic department must be basing on the report of the academic supervisor or the guider. </li><li> Postponing academic semesters does not count within the maximum period of obtaining the degree nor within the prescribed period of getting honor degree. </li><li>If the postponing student finalized his/her dissertation, he/she may deliver it during the postponement period and it would consider as a cut to that period. </li></ol>  </div>

User’s Guide of Academic and Supplementary Dissertations

Postponing Study<div class="ExternalClass36F44802AD0F48BB89A454EB51B7CAC8">It has understood for every postgraduate student that, there is a time limit for each and every student determined to not be less than four semesters and not more than eight semesters in Master stage, and not be less than six semesters and not more than ten semesters in Master stage. Postponement of study means that freezing validity of such limits for a certain period to be at least one semester and maximize to four semesters. If student requests to postponing his/her study starting from the third semester, for an example, for two future semesters, this simply means his/her official study has been freeze at the second semester and the other third and four ones won't be counting in the official records. If the fifth semester has start, then he/she must re-joining and it will consider as the third semester for the student.  Request of Postponing Study: If a student in the stage of studying courses, he/she may request postponing the study if he/she has actually finished at least one semester, and there is no postponement of the study in the first semester. As well, the same situation would be applicable in case a student have completed study courses but he/she did not register a topic for the Master or PhD. If the student have registered the subject of his dissertation, he/she may request a postponement if he had completed enough his dissertation proportionating with the time spent after registration, based on the supervisor's report.  Conditions of Deserving Postponement of Study: A student can get to postpone his/her study upon three situations: First: He/she has finished one academic semester at least. Two: Apply to postpone the study before the starting of the semester by at least two weeks, and this means that the student must apply for postponement of the study before the end of the semester, which he/she is studying it. Third: Council of the related department must approve the postponement based on the report of the supervisor or guider, Dean of the College or the Institute and Dean of Graduate Studies, and it does not be valid until approved by the these three entities.   If the student is in the stage of courses study and obtained a postponement of the study for a period of one semester or more, he/she must complete the study after the end of the postponing if the courses are still available from the department concerned, and if they are not he/she must study the next semester's courses. If such postponing courses are consider requirements, an issue must up to the council if the Deanship of Higher Studies to make the necessary decision.  A student may submit an application to postpone the study for a time not minimum of one semester and not exceeding four semesters. He/she is entitled to take postponement classes in separate or in combine, stated that he/she must not to combine more than semesters at a time, if he/she does not able to not take advantage of the rest.  Postponed Semesters: <div class="ExternalClass62459DD8556B4FD588E1C3CF65524388" style="text-align:justify;"><ul><li>Postponed semesters do not counted within the maximum period of getting the degree, as they do not counted within the period stipulated for Honor degrees.</li></ul></div> <div class="ExternalClass180625CC505E46E990ED54C4AFA084B5"><ul><li>Academic councils consider the topic of the dissertation proposed by the postponing student, and after the decision of the council of the Deanship of Higher Studies, if the decision was positive; the postponing period must be counting as an essential and not as a postponing.</li></ul></div> <ul><li>If student have granted an additional period and had not exhausted the postponement one, he/she is at liberty to postpone such additional opportunity or a part of it.</li></ul> <ul><li>A student must stay in touch with his/her dissertation's academic supervisor, and if shares of staff faculty in the department of supervision has been completed and only a supervising professor left, he would be the responsible for supervision. Moreover, if the postponed student has expired his/her period, the related department could assign another academic supervisor.</li></ul> <ul><li>If the postponed student wanted to cut the postponement period, he/she he may apply to the head of the department concerned, as well if the postponed student has finalized the dissertation process, he/she might deliver it and then automatically cut the postponement period.</li></ul> <ul><li>Student who wants to postponement his/her study must fill-in the prescribed form and pass it to the head of the department. The prescribed postponement form is available at the academic departments and at the website of Deanship of Higher Studies. </li></ul>Postponement Request Procedures:  Request of the postponement of the study initially must provide to the related academic department to recognizing it, and then pass to the Dean of the College to approve it without the need of the college's council approval. After that, it should be pass to the Dean of Higher Studies to approve it without the need of the Deanship's council approval. Postponement request would be then consider approved for processing, the original copy will be save at the student file at Deanship of Higher Studies, and two copies should be sent to related departments. Note: Postponement of the study is not necessary for each and every student, but it is a space of time that student could take if he/she needs it.  </div>

Study Plan<div class="ExternalClass9D2E05CCDE6E46FBB84353388317EA94"><div class="ExternalClass218E8579FE424DFE8B65B16250D4B17E" style="text-align:justify;">Study Plan at Master Stage:  </div>It would be at two methods:  1- By Courses and Dissertation: Academic units must not be less than 24 and not exceeding 30 academic units, and courses must not be less than two courses and not exceeding three ones, in addition to the thesis. 2- By Courses only: This would especially be available at some professional academic majors.  Academic units must not be less than 42 ones, including a research project equivalent to three academic units at least. Courses must not be less than three ones.  Study Plan at PhD Stage:  It would be at two methods:  1- By Courses and Dissertation: Academic units must not be less than 30 and not exceeding 40 academic units, and courses must not be less than three courses and not exceeding five ones, in addition to the dissertation. 2- By Dissertation and some Courses: This would especially be available at some professional academic majors. Academic units must not be less than 42 ones, including a research project equivalent to three academic units at least. Courses must not be less than three ones.  Ratio of Academic Curricula and Dissertation in Light of Grade Given to Student If the Master program would be study by courses and dissertation, 40 % will be for curricula and 60 % for the dissertation, and if the PhD program would be study by courses not less than 30 units, 40 % will for curricula and 60 % for the dissertation. In PhD program would be study by courses not less than twelve units, 20 % will be for curricula and 80 for the dissertation.  Study Plan for One Full Year:  Academic year is consisting of two separated semesters, each of them being not less than 15 weeks, and not including the registration and exam periods. In addition to a summer semester, which is not less than 8 weeks.  Deprivation of Student from Attending Final Exam A student may deprives from attending the final exam in the curriculum, which his/her absence proportion increase of 20% of the number of modules, and colleges shall determine the deadline for accepting excuses in each semester. Definite Deadline of Obtaining a Degree The prescribed period for a master's degree must be at least four semesters, and not more than eight semesters, summer semesters doesn’t include in this period. The prescribed period for a doctorate degree must be at least six semesters, and not more than ten classes, summer semesters does not include in this period. Calculating Statutory Period for Master's and PhD The time to get a regular degree is calculating for each student from the beginning of his/her registration until the supervisor providing a report to the head of the department, attaching a copy of the dissertation or any other requirements of the program. Student Graduation and Obtaining a Degree Student does not graduate from master or PhD program only after the termination of all degree requirements at a rate of not less than (very good). Student Graduation at “Good” Rate If a student finished the requirements for obtaining the degree at a cumulative rate less than (very good), he/she may be consider giving an extra period of one semester or two semesters as an upper limit. This would be based on the recommendation of the department and college councils, which aims to raise the cumulative rate of the student with a study of some courses that have already been studied, if he/she has failed his/her registration will cancelled.</div>
