Council Duties
 

The council shall run the academic, administrative and financial affairs of the university and shall execute the general policy of the university. The foremost duties run as follow:

- Approving of training and seconding schemes.

- Proposing new colleges, institutes, departments, research centers, and supporting deanships; and proposing changing, emerging, and deleting names of any.

- Endorsing majors and postgraduate studies.

- Granting  honorary PhDs.

- Planning the academic year: start and end of study and fixing vacations;
 
- Seconding; delegating faculty members; granting them sabbatical leaves;

 And ending their services according to rules:

- Approving of curricula, plans of study, books, references;

- Proposing payments and subsidies for students.

- Approving of the university draft budget and submitting it to the higher education minister;

- Approving the internal regulations  of the university;

- Approving of and modifying regulations of the university;

- Discussing the annual report in a step to present it to the higher education council;

- Appropriating amounts given to each college, institute, supporting deanship, or an independent research center;

- Discussing the university final accounts in a step to submit it to the cabinet;

- Approving plans of extracurricular activities;

- Taking resolutions on appointing faculty members at the recommendation of the Sharia council;

-  Acceding donations, gifts, or bequests provided that basic objectives upon which the university has already been founded are not violated;

- Mapping out rules organizing the process of shifted undergraduates or visiting students;

- Probing topics, forwarded by the minister of higher education, rector; or proposed by a member of the broad;

- Forging permanent and interim committees to probe assigned tasks.
