al-Imam University Holds an Islamic Banking Symposium


Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, represented by the University's center for Community Services and Ongoing Education, in tandem with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), will organize during the forthcoming week an international symposium on "the Future of Islamic Banking in light of the International Financial Crisis".

Gathering at the headquarter's of al-Imam University's Islamic and Arab Sciences Institute in Jakarta, Indonesia, the symposium aims to bring attention to Islamic banking and its role in controlling the international financial crisis. Additionally, it intends to develop the Islamic financial products in the international financial markets. 

Dr. Abdullah M. Al-Rezain, Dean of al-Imam University's center for Community Services and Ongoing Education, stated: "Three key topics will be addressed during the conference, in addition to a number of specialized scientific papers. Many scholars and researchers in the field of Islamic banking along with other well-known financial advisers and al-Imam University's faculty members will participate in the event".

"This symposium is consistent with the university's agenda of serving and actively participating in issues related to Islamic economics so as to keep abreast with international financial modifications" he added.

Significantly the Islamic Research & Training Institute, an affiliated institution with the IDB, will participate actively in the events of the symposium.
