Imam University Sharia Astronomic Symposium Begins

Under the kind patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail, Rector of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Imam University had launched on the last day morning at the rounding hall venue a distinguished Sharia astronomy symposium in collaboration with King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Saudi Ministry of Justice.
Inaugurating the plenary session and addressing it, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yusuf Ad-Drwaish, Imam Vice-Rector of Sharia Institute Affairs and who doubles as Chairperson of Imam Permanent Committee of Sharia Astronomy, by welcoming all the astronomers and judges’ participant guests at the university.

Officials at KACST, as other specialists, are highly considering the importance of the astronomic rules for determining on what days the month shall fall, and that’s why Imam University has decided to cope with their efforts through holding such Sharia-based symposium demonstrating on occultism and astronomical calculations, stated Dr. Ad-Drwaish.
“The first astronomical symposium had successfully reached to its targeted objectives and as such Imam University is keenness to pursue its active participation is the astronomic field”, noted he.

Concluding his statements, Imam Sharia Institute Affairs Vice-Rector had lauded the ample support of H.E. the university and H.E. Prof. Dr. Khalid Al-Angry, Saudi Minister of Higher Education, and all senior officials of Imam Supreme Jurisdiction Institute for ironing the obstacles that facing the holding of the symposium at the university.
