Imam University launches its first workshop of Al-Jazirah Newspaper Chair for new media studies

 
The general Secretariat of Scientific Researches Chairs recently organized the 1st workshop of Al-Jazirah Newspaper Chair for new media studies under the auspices of H.E. Professor Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail, the rector of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University.

“This step is considered critical for many other arrangements in this field, it also provides specialists in media in the university and in the newspaper with related fruitful plans and strategies” said Dr. Aba Al-Khail in his word.

H.E. expected more deeply positive contributions and aims behind this occasion serving Saudi media in the future.

Dr. Abdullah H.  Al-Khalaf, Vice-Rector for Higher Studies and Scientific Research, emphasized on the trends of arabizing the scientific research chairs as it monopoly initiated by the Western universities and called for more encouragement and support to that end.

Dr. Al-Khalaf added that, research chairs program aims at meeting a number of goals like:

 - Accomplish the vision of H.M. King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his crown prince towards developing the higher education.
 - Promote the Saudi’s trends of stabilization of knowledge society.
 - Strengthen community partnership with the university and support co-operation to raise the spirit of institutional research.
 - Attract outstanding scientists and achieve maximum benefits from their expertise in all areas of knowledge.

On the other hand, Mr. Khaled .H. Al-Ma’alk chief editor of Al-Jazirah newspaper outlined reason behind creating the research chair which was to enhance the comprehensive co-operation between all Saudi presses and added “Thru colleges and media Depts, press can add new achievements for the journalism institutions”.

Mr. Al-Ma’alk expounded that the idea of the chair was initiated by the university teaching-staff members targeting to improve skills and capabilities of the journalisms, stimulates students and teachers for new empirical researches and benefits will be available for all inside and out side the university.

Dr. Fahad Ibn Abdul Aziz As-skar, dean of scientific research and treasurer of scientific chair program, stressed on the importance of the gathering to take advantages of expertise, capabilities and knowledge of the specialists during the next chair’s workshops.

Dr. As-skar announced that the council adopted resolution to compel all the established chairs inside the university to convene a constituent workshop and invite interested persons to introduce its objectives and activities and to take advantage of all the opinions in formulation of strategic and operational plans for the chair.

Dr. Abdullah Ibn Muhammad Al-Rafi’e, chief editor of Mira’h-tul-Jameah Newspaper, clarified that Al-Jazirah newspaper chair for new media studies will be open for all interested persons from all over Saudi’s universities.
