The College of Arabic Language Hosts a Poetry Reading for International Students in Celebration of International Arabic Language Day

As part of its extended cultural program commemorating International Arabic Language Day, the College of Arabic Language at IMSIU hosted a vibrant poetry Reading (asbooha) for international students on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The celebration is part of a broader lineup of events running through Wednesday, December 24, including scholarly discussions, training workshops, and student-led cultural activities that highlight the richness and civilizational significance of the Arabic language.

The poetry gathering featured a number of remarkable contributions from international students who eloquently expressed their deep connection to Arabic. Student Dawood Tounkara recited three poems: Princess of Languages, a heartfelt tribute To the Soul of Poet Abdullah Dramé, and From the Whispers of Longing. His verses conveyed pride in the Arabic language and explored themes of longing and shared human experience, resonating with emotional depth.

Student Al-Ameen Jadama presented two poems titled The Companion of Letters and Hope and The Burning Ache of Longing. In his performance, he poetically explored the profound bond between language and hope, drawing on rich emotional imagery that underscored his affinity for Arabic.

Meanwhile, student Mama Sanga offered two reflective literary pieces titled Train and Allah. His works conveyed spiritual and humanistic contemplations, showcasing the diverse cultural backgrounds of international students and their unique engagement with Arabic as a language of creativity and shared cultural expression.

This poetry session is one of many events launched by the College of Arabic Language to celebrate Arabic as a language of heritage, knowledge, and identity. It aims to foster a stronger cultural presence for Arabic, enhance students' expressive skills, and spotlight the literary contributions of international students within the university's academic and cultural life.
